Clowns from all over the world pay their respects at his graveside in Islington, London, on the anniversary of his death in 1859 the Great Clock of the Elizabeth Tower, Houses of Parliament, started for the first time. The diary had been started in 1660 and contains more than 1.25 million words in 1837 the famous pantomime clown Joseph Grimaldi died. In 1669 Samuel Pepys wrote the last words in his diary, declaring “thus ends all that I doubt I shall ever be able to do with my own eyes in the keeping of my journal”.
